Centrica appoints non-executive director

Centrica plc is pleased to announce that Margherita Della Valle is to be appointed a Non-Executive Director of the company, effective 1 January 2011.

Centrica plc is pleased to announce that Margherita Della Valle is to be appointed a Non-Executive Director of the company, effective 1 January 2011. Ms Della Valle, who is Group Financial Controller for Vodafone, will also become a member of Centrica's Audit, Nominations and Remuneration Committees.

Roger Carr, Chairman of Centrica said: "I'm delighted to welcome Margherita as a Non-Executive Director. She is a proven and talented member of the Vodafone Senior Leadership team and will bring valuable financial and consumer market experience to Centrica. Margherita's wide experience in managing large consumer businesses with strong brands will be of considerable value to our growth strategy for British Gas."

Ms Della Valle brings the total number of women on Centrica's board to three.

In accordance with obligations under Listing Rule 9.6.13R, there is no information required to be disclosed. Ms Della Valle does not have an interest in the ordinary shares of Centrica plc
