Sale of Direct Energy receives further regulatory approvals

Transaction remains on track to complete in the fourth quarter of 2020

Centrica plc notes that NRG Energy Inc. (NRG) has received notice from the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission granting early termination of the Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) waiting period for the previously announced sale of Direct Energy to NRG.

The transaction has now received Centrica shareholder, Canadian Competition Act and HSR approvals. It remains subject to approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

Completion of the transaction is expected to occur later in the fourth quarter of 2020.
