To celebrate its proud partnership with Team GB and ParalympicsGB, British Gas is powering home fans watching the Paris 2024 Olympic Games by extending its half-price electricity offer, PeakSave, to help millions of homeowners tune into the games.

The business will be offering half-price electricity every Sunday from 9am-5pm throughout the games (between 28th July - 8th September), as well as two Saturdays (Saturday 3rd August and 7th September).

PeakSave aims to reward homeowners for shifting their electricity usage to times when there’s less demand, or more renewable electricity available on the grid, supporting a greener energy supply.

It first launched last year and has already helped more than 600,000 customers save money and use cleaner, greener energy. To register for PeakSave all you need is to be a British Gas customer and have a smart meter. All savings will appear as credit on households’ energy bills.

All 10 pubs will be screening the games for free so fans can watch their favourite sporting heroes. This includes Team GB athletes competing in athletics, beach volleyball, rowing and swimming.

British Gas’ PeakSave for Business trial, which is running from 26th July to 30th August, encourages participating businesses to use electricity when it is more available on the grid. Businesses will be rewarded with 50 per cent off all electricity on from 11am to 4pm every Friday. Savings that businesses accumulate during the trial will appear as credit on energy bills.

"We’re proud to help our customers and British small business make significant savings and utilise cleaner, greener energy – and what better way to kick things off than helping the nation watch more sport for less as we cheer on Team GB and ParalympicsGB this summer."

Matt Wood, Director at British Gas Business Energy

The trial launches following the success of its popular residential customer offer, which has enabled customers to collectively save over £11 million and around 326 tonnes of carbon emissions.

Matt Wood, director at British Gas Business Energy, said: “Since launching PeakSave, we've helped over 600,000 customers reduce costs and play their part in reducing electricity use at peak times. And now we’re excited to be rolling out our PeakSave for Business trial as well.

“We’re proud to help our customers and British small business make significant savings and utilise cleaner, greener energy – and what better way to kick things off than helping the nation watch more sport for less as we cheer on Team GB and ParalympicsGB this summer.

“Whatever the sport, we’ll be powering home fans cheering on all of our Team GB and ParalympicsGB athletes”
