AALBORG & TALLIN, FEBRUARY 6 2024 – Enery, a leading renewable energy provider operating in Central & Eastern Europe, and Centrica Energy have today announced the signing of a three-year Power Purchase Agreement for two solar parks located in the Harju county of Estonia.
Starting March 2024, Centrica will offtake power production from the Rummu and Jersey solar parks constructed by Enery in 2023. With a total installed capacity of 32 MW, the parks generate approximately 39 GWh of green electricity annually – equivalent to the demand of approximately 12,366 households and offsetting 24,550 tonnes of CO2e emissions annually.
Marking Centrica Energy’s first Power Purchase Agreement in the Estonian market, the deal is the result of an ambitious commercial strategy designed to expand the business across new borders and deliver on green growth ambitions by unlocking new asset geographies and developing powerful value propositions for partners and customers.
"We’re looking forward to a successful partnership with Enery, who continue to deliver on their position as an important provider of renewable energy development throughout Central and Eastern Europe."
Kristian Gjerløv-Juel, Vice President for Renewable Energy Trading & Optimisation
Developing and introducing greater shares of renewable electricity to the grid is essential to achieving the targets prescribed in Estonia’s National Energy and Climate Plan, calling for an increase in renewable energy share in electricity consumption from 19% in 2020 to 40% in 2030. Supporting this target, private developers such as Enery are delivering an important contribution to bringing new green electricity into the grid with the support of merchant-based instruments to manage risks and enable stable long-term returns for investors.
Kristian Gjerløv-Juel, Vice President for Renewable Energy Trading & Optimisation at Centrica Energy said, “We’re looking forward to a successful partnership with Enery, who continue to deliver on their position as an important provider of renewable energy development throughout Central and Eastern Europe. Combined with our expertise in managing and optimising renewable assets, together we’ll be ensuring sustainable green power supply at the lowest possible cost.”
Severin Vartigov, Chief Commercial Officer at Enery said, “At Enery, we believe in the power of collaboration to drive positive change, and our partnership with Centrica exemplifies this commitment. The Power Purchase Agreement signifies our shared vision for a sustainable energy future in Estonia.”
