Meet some of our people helping to keep our customers' homes warm and bright this Christmas.
This holiday season, many of our teams across the world will be making sure we continue securing energy for our customers and keeping homes warm and working.
Some will spend Christmas on our offshore production or storage platforms, while others will be working to keep our power stations and wind farms running and our engineers on both sides of the Atlantic will be helping hundreds of customers with home emergencies.
Meet some of the teams keeping our customers’ homes warm and bright this Christmas.
It will be business as usual in Exploration and Production, with oil and gas production continuing in the seas around the UK and Norway as well as in Canada. Over the festive period, our teams will produce enough oil and gas to heat nearly 300,000 homes every day. The same will be true of our UK power stations and wind farms, which play a vital role in keeping the Christmas lights twinkling should extra power be needed by National Grid.
At British Gas, around 1,000 HomeCare engineers and 200 office teams will be helping our customers with any home heating, plumbing and electrical emergencies. At our National Distribution Centre, staff are expected to send out over 2,000 parts over the bank holidays alone. The Services team will also be ready for other customer emergencies ranging from emergency boiler installations to roofing emergencies.
In North America, at Direct Energy, hundreds of technicians will be available to help customers with plumbing, electrical and HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) emergencies and in Ireland, Bord Gáis Energy teams will be on duty to service boilers and keep power stations running.
However you are celebrating the festive season, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy and safe 2016 from everyone at Centrica.
